El aplique de pared Ball está diseñado con una bisagra giratoria y un cable ajustable, lo que permite mover fácilmente la pantalla sin tener que reajustarla en la pared. En 1952, se introdujo en el mercado estadounidense una serie de lámparas colgantes suecas, y George Nelson quedó tan impresionado que quiso una para su oficina. Su elevado precio le impidió comprar una, pero también lo inspiró a diseñar la suya propia. El resultado fue una serie de lámparas con formas esféricas elementales, como una manzana redondeada, un cigarro alargado y una pera bien formada, entre otras.
