Light shaped by the ribsThe glow becomes even lines through the slots. Because the metal stays dark, the fixture still looks sharp when it is on. You get a drawn line of light, not a washed-out box.

Comfortable downlightUse the open base where you need light on the wall below: by a door, a pillar, or a seat outdoors. The open base earns its place by lighting the wall you actually use.

Tour the fitting in this order. A ribbed aluminium shade lets light out in even lines and sits on a simple square plate. Closer in, the ribs stay regular, the edges stay clean, and the metal is smoothed for daylight and for after dark.

Even ribs, tidy lightA soft, striped glow, not a bright patch, comes from slots that are spaced to read as regular lines. The spacing is the detail that makes the bulb look finished.

Metal, worked cleanlyFinished rather than rough: the shade and plate are aluminium, the edges are meant to be seen in daylight, and the ribs stay even. You can judge the aluminium before the lamp is on.

Keep the finish looking sharp.

Dust the ribs.

Skip the soak on the head. Wipe the aluminium slats and the plate with a soft dry cloth, never a wet cloth in the slots.

Skip harsh cleaners.

Mark risk: bleach and abrasive pads. The plate only needs a barely damp cloth, dried right away.

Switch the power off.

Cleaning starts with power disconnected. IP54 means splashes, not a rinse into the open base or the socket.
